I've heard great things from some of our engineers at Standard Metrics about Codex. I wanted to give it a try.
I downloaded the desktop app and asked it for setup advice. It ended up setting up a separate worktree so I could work on different parts of my website in parallel between Claude Code and Codex.
I then prompted it to add a new blog post, gave it the title, preview, and body, and voila — the post was made, I previewed it on my machine, and I pushed to production in GitHub.
My experience in Codex was overall similar to Claude Code, although it ended up finding some issues with the way that linting was handled and fixed those after walking me through it. This ended up leading to a lengthy session that resolved a bunch of linting issues. I'm sure this was a good thing, but the issues weren't affecting the experience on the website. On the flip side, I liked the way that Codex automatically previewed the website builds on the right side of the app. This felt clean and friendly to a beginner.
I now have two fully functional coding agents. I'll be interested to see where I gravitate more over time. For this simple website, they both seem to work extremely well.
